Did anyone notice when Animal Planet Redesigned their logo?

Today I was on the subway when I noticed it.
My first reaction was: What where they thinking?
I dont understand the concept behind the new logo.
Why is the 'A' extra large ?
Why is the 'N' and the second 'A' condensed and the 'I' and 'L' not?
Why is the 'M' laying on it side?
It look like it says 'ANIBAL Planet'
