An awards celebration for the winners will take place in May 2010 in New York, NY. The winners and their work will be featured in the May issue of PDN and on our Web site.NEW THIS YEAR! The Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation and Maine Media Workshops Scholarship and Prize for New Directions in Creative Photographic Portraiture. Photographers are invited to enter portrait photography for consideration in this new category.
The winner will receive $15,000 and a solo exhibit at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine.
Prizes total over $20,000!
Marty Forscher Fellowship
The Marty Forscher Fellowship recognizes students and young professionals with a talent for humanistic photography. The fund will award two grants in 2010. Photographers are eligible by entering humanistic documentary images to the PDN Photo Annual. New Year's TekResolution... Go Green, Recycle Your eWaste
This year, make it your New Year's resolution to go green – safely and properly recycle your old electronics at our eWaste Recycling Drive, hosted with the Lower East Side Ecology Center. Bring computers, monitors, fax machines, copiers, CD/DVD/VCR players, stereo equipment, televisions, cell phones, and other unwanted electronics to Tekserve on Saturday, January 16th to be safely recycled. Anyone bringing electronics to be recycled can enter for a chance to win an Apple MacBook Air. Plus, all participants in the event will receive a $25 coupon, good towards any Mac or iPod (excluding iPod shuffle) from Tekserve, until February 15th, 2010.
WHAT: Your Old and Unwanted Electronics, Safely Recycled
WHEN: Saturday, January 16th, from 10AM to 4PM
WHERE: In Front of Tekserve, 119 West 23rd St. (near 6th Ave.)
Sponsored collection events like these are one of the easiest ways for New Yorkers to properly dispose of their old electronic gear and gadgets, which contain hazardous materials such as lead, cadmium, and mercury. These events are especially important for NYC since Build It Green, the City's eWaste drop-off program was suspended several years ago.
